This is the beginning of a free weekly woodwork course running at the Earthsong Eco-Neighbourhood Workshop. The goal of the course is to work through the fundamentals of woodwork, slowly building confidence in an array of important tools as students collect their set of tools.
Throught the course, students will need to collect a few basic tools (saw, square, chisel, plane, etc). but we'll focus on using the very simplest methods possible, and building or restoring our own tools so that students will be able to continue their woodwork at home at the lowest possible cost.
This workshop is great for someone who has no tools and wood like to start woodworking, but is also fine for intermediate woodworkers wanting to revisit the fundamentals, or power tools woodworkers wanting learn more about working wood by hand. We'll also be covering tool care and maintenance.
The end goal of the course is for students to have all built their own cabinetmakers toolchest, but during the process we'll build a bunch of other fun projects for use around the house.
Places are very limited. Contact craig at craig@earthsong.org.nz or 833 5379 for more details.
